The challenge

Our client, an Australian Big Four Bank, announced changes to the Executive Leadership Team. The long-serving Group Chief Financial Officer was to retire, with the current Group Executive Strategy &Innovation to be appointed Group Chief Financial Officer in an expanded role. As a result of this change, the Strategy and Innovation role would no longer exist, and a new structurewas to be determined. Our client recognised that the current CFO leadership team, plus the integrationof the Strategy and Innovation team was too large to sit under the new Group Chief Financial Officer. This issue posed several questions... Which roles stay within the CFO leadership team? Which roles in the Strategy and Innovation leadership team will now join the CFO leadership team? How will the roles that aren't selected to join the CFO leadership team be integrated into thebusiness?

Solution

There was a requirement for our client to better understand how other, comparable organisationsstructure these groups to better inform its decision-making process. As a result, Emu Intelligenceundertook a comprehensive competitor analysis to provide our client with the information neededto make this key structural change.

Following the selection of five (5) comparable companies, Emu Intelligence then researched, identified & delivered a Competitor Analysis report showcasing how each company is structured, including the reporting lines and naming conventions used by each. The key deliverable was atailored report addressing the outlined areas along with comparative insights which waspresented to key stakeholders in Executive Talent Acquisition and Executive Leadership
