The CFO role required a leader who could balance operational excellence with strategic foresight, leveraging data analytics to drive transformative change while managing the complexities of scaling operations. Meanwhile, the CGO position was critical in accelerating international growth, with the company evaluating whether an even stronger leader could propel them toward their long-term exit strategy. Together, these roles underscored ZL’s commitment to securing top-tier leadership to navigate its next phase of innovation and market dominance.

The roles

Chief Financial Officer: The CFO role was designed to bridge robust operational finance with a need for strategic oversight. The successful candidate was expected to provide analytical, data-driven insights that would guide key decision-making and enhance the effectiveness of management and board reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning. This strategic position also involved closely supporting the founders in identifying and capitalizing on growth opportunities while preparing the company for a potential liquidity event.

Chief Growth Officer: The CGO is an ELT position, reporting to CEO. Key to success is building out sales teams and developing operating models that are fit-for-purpose in different markets, as well as creating a more sophisticated and data-led approach to sales conversion. It is critical for ZL that the new CGO can source and convert more strategic multi-site deals and partnerships.
